2. Vergne to Monforte d'Alba

Left Vergne after breakfast and made our way to Barolo where we stopped for coffee. We watched the cleanup of the previous night's Sting concert which was enjoyed by 10000 Sting fans.
Then it was back on the road.  I decided that we should walk in the shade of the trees along a little river instead of on the main road. Not the best choice I'd made so far...  The first couple of kilometres was fantastic,  nice and cool.  But as all good things come to an end, we ran out of trail and had to climb about 150m straight up to get out of the ravine!  Not such fun... By the time we reached the road at the top, I was covered in nasty burrs and was schwitzing profusely.  The temperature of water we had with us may have been in excess of 25 degree's but was thirst quenching none the less.
We made our way through more vineyards and eventually arrived at our hotel in Monforte d'Alba, just in time for a quick shower, lunch and a snooze.
